Pharmaceuticals, alongside halloumi cheese, remained key drivers of Cyprus’ exports in 2024, despite a slight downturn, according to the Cyprus Statistical Service (Cystat).

Specifically, pharmaceuticals accounted for 14.4 per cent of the country’s manufactured exports, totalling €348 million, down from €355.6 million the previous year.

France topped the list of importers, purchasing over €39.1 million worth of Cypriot pharmaceuticals, up by more than 4 per cent.  

Vietnam, the Czech Republic, Greece, and Slovakia also featured prominently among the destinations, with exports totaling €24.1 million, €23.8 million, €22.2 million, and €12.5 million, respectively. 

Key markets for Cyprus’ pharmaceutical products in 2024 also included Iraq, Germany, Denmark, and Romania, with exports amounting to €11.9 million, €11.7 million, €11.6 million, and €11.1 million, respectively.  

The Netherlands rounded out the top ten, importing Cypriot medicines worth over €9 million. 

Additional export destinations were Bulgaria (€9 million), Spain and Slovenia (€6.9 million each), Malaysia (€6.7 million), Singapore (€6.3 million), Jordan (€5.8 million), and Austria (€5.4 million).
