An 85-year-old was taken to hospital on Sunday afternoon after he drove his car into a shop window in the old town of Nicosia.

The police said the accident happened just after 7.30pm and the driver was taken by ambulance to Nicosia general hospital, where doctors found he had been lightly injured.

Investigations are continuing into the cause of the accident.
