Police in Paphos are investigating a case of assault causing actual bodily harm and knife possession after a violent incident was reported in the early hours of Wednesday.
According to a police statement, a 40-year-old permanent resident of Paphos reported that two unknown individuals broke into his home in Yeroskipou at around 1am on April 23. He told officers that the intruders attacked him without warning.
The man said one of the attackers struck him on the head with a club, while the other attempted to stab him with a knife. He suffered minor injuries and was taken to the accident and emergency department at Paphos hospital. A doctor on duty cleaned and stitched his wounds.
The victim claimed the assailants had covered their faces with scarves and said he had no idea why he was targeted. He added that the two men left the house without stealing anything. Paphos police are continuing their investigation.
