A fire broke out on Sunday in the kitchen of a residence in Geroskipou, possibly caused by a lit candle, fire services spokesman Andreas Kettis said.

According to a post on platform X by Kettis, the Paphos Fire Station responded with two staffed fire engines to a fire that broke out in a kitchen of a house in Geroskipou.

According to Kettis, the fire damaged the kitchen equipment and the walls of the house, without endangering anyone.

The fire was extinguished with the use of water hoses, after members of the Fire Department entered the house using breathing apparatus.

It is believed that the fire was caused by a lit candle and due to the carelessness of a minor, Kettis concluded.
