Electricity bills can now be paid over the counter at post offices following the signing of an agreement on Tuesday.
The agreement was signed between the Electricity Authority (EAC) and Cyprus Post to provide consumers with better access to services, especially the elderly and residents of remote areas.
The Energy and Transport Ministers, George Papanastasiou and Alexis Vafeades, were both present at the signing of the agreement, which the EAC said was the culmination of a common approach and vision to upgrade people’s quality of life.
The agreement adds the 51 post offices to the ten EAC customer services points.
Papanastasiou said collaboration between organisations was important, as it enhanced performance and flexibility to better serve the people.
Furthermore, Vafeades said allowing people to pay their electricity bills over the counter at post offices offered alternatives and strengthened social cohesion, “bringing the state closer to the citizen”.
