Kicking off the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra’s May events is a special concert as it features not only the esteemed maestro Charles Olivieri-Munroe but also seven aspiring young conductors who have participated in the International Conducting Masterclass with the maestro. On May 9, they will present some of the most inspiring landmarks of the symphonic repertoire by Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Rossini and Prokofiev. Getting ready to take the stage of Pallas Theatre are aspiring conductor Sebastián Jiménez (Colombia), Ana Belen Herrezuelo (Spain), Karim Said (Jordan/ UK), Iverson Eliopoulos (USA), Vera Volchansky (USA), Michel Galante (USA) and Matteo Roversi (France/ Italy).

Conducting the orchestra musicians, the seven conductors will lead a programme that features Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony no. 3 in E flat major, op. 55 ‘Eroica’, Sergei Prokofiev’s Symphony no. 1 in D major, op. 25 ‘Classical’, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Idomeneo, K. 366: Overture, Felix Mendelssohn’s The Hebrides overture, op. 26 and Gioachino Rossini’s Il signor Bruschino: Overture.

Up next, the orchestra will continue its spring agenda with more concert series taking place not only in Nicosia but also Larnaca and the municipalities of Tala, Deryneia, Pervolia, Peristerona, Dali and Galata.
