Police in Larnaca arrested five youths some of whom are still being held in custody on Wednesday after an incident that started with a fight overnight, outside a cafe.
According to the police, two girls, an 18-year-old and a minor, were involved in fighting outside the venue, with police intervening at the scene in an attempt to restore order.
Police said it was not possible to stop the two girls, and as a result the officers arrested them.
A 19-year-old man, who seems to have been a friend, tried to separate the girls to prevent their arrest, resulting in his own arrest.
Officers escorted the three teens to the Larnaca police department, and while they were being held there, two other youths, aged 17 and 22, attempted to enter the building.
They were also arrested, while the younger minor was released later on Tuesday night.
The remaining four individuals are still being held and are expected to be released within the day, after being charged in writing.
