The Nicosia Municipal Gardens are set to turn into a platform for empowerment, with voices to be heard and rights to be demanded. The reason? The 4th edition of Femme Fest Cyprus takes place on May 24 and 25, continuing its journey for the promotion of gender equality.

In its fourth consecutive year, the festival’s packed agenda will celebrate collectivity and amplify women’s voices. Open to people of all genders, backgrounds and ages, the festival aims to be an open space for expression, awareness and empowerment around gender equality.

And the organisers, Women’s Movement POGO, are not at it alone. Their efforts are supported by women creators from music, theatre, dance and visual arts fields, as well as collectives, institutions and organisations actively working towards equality. Themed booths with informational and interactive content will be set up all around the gardens while the festival agenda includes parallel discussions and workshops exploring gender-related topics.

An invited speaker this year is Greek singer Natasa Mbofiliou who will converse with journalist Demetra Georgiou about women’s rights and an inclusive world. Theatre performances, choir shows and discussions about women in cinema also make up the 2025 programme and there is even an organised trip to Fyti village. Fythkiotiko embroidery inspired the poster this year and in honour of tradition where weaving meets female artistry, the festival organises a day trip to the village of Fythkiotiko on the Sunday. The full programme can be found on the festival’s social pages and website.

Entertainment-wise, Femme Fest will also include concerts, performances and artistic happenings throughout the weekend as well as a creative corner for children and food and drink stalls, making it a festival with a purpose for all.
