Cyprus is ranking first in the medal standings at the Games of Small States of Europe (GSSE), taking place in Andorra, with 22 medals, eight of which are gold.
The Cyprus Olympic Committee announced that by 7.50pm on Tuesday, Cyprus had won eight gold medals: Marina Azinou in Judo 57Kg, Kyprianos Andreou in Judo 73Kg, Aristos Michael in Judo 100Kg, Andreas Miltiadis in the cycling time trial, Achilleas Sophocleous in the 10m air rifle, the men’s team in rhythmic gymnastics, Giorgos Aggonas in the individual medley and Kalia Antoniou in swimming 100m freestyle.
The men’s and women’s teams won silver medals in table tennis, Irini Kontou in the Karate Kumite -50kg, Andreas Gavriil in the Kumite -60kg, Markos Tsangaras in the Kumite -67kg, Odysseas Georgakis in Judo 81kg and Michalis Isaias in in gymnastics individual all-around.
Bronze medals were won in Karate by Maria Kyprianou in Kumite -55kg and Matthew Stylianou in Kumite +84kg, in Judo by Diana Dimitriou 70kg, Georgios Kalaitsidis 66kg, Petros Kesov 81kg, Theocharis Karatsaousidis 90kg and Alexandros Patiniotis 100kg, and in swimming by Agathi Manoli in the 200m butterfly.
