Located in Limassol, the “Colour & Light by XM” Centre stands as a shining example of social awareness and innovation. Housed in modern facilities, it is now in its second year of operation as a space for education, recreation and social engagement for children on the autism spectrum, offering tailored programmes that integrate contemporary therapeutic methods.
A fully-funded XM initiative
The Centre was established in 2024 as an initiative by XM, which fully funded the facilities, equipment, staffing and broader infrastructure. Its operation has been entrusted to the Cyprus Association for People with Autism, which holds both scientific and administrative responsibility for its daily management.
This collaboration, with the contribution of Tasoula Georgiadou, Chair of the Board of the Association, has positioned “Colour & Light” as a reference point for inclusion and equal treatment of individuals with autism in Cypriot society.
A personalised approach for every child
The purpose-built space offers a safe and supportive environment where children engage in activities including speech therapy, occupational therapy and social interaction, aimed at enhancing communication, autonomy and self-esteem.
The Centre employs internationally-recognised methods such as Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), TEACCH and sensory integration. A multidisciplinary team – including psychologists, occupational therapists and speech and language therapists – work closely together to design individualised programmes, fully tailored to the needs of each child.
Giving voice to what cannot be spoken
“Early intervention is crucial. The earlier a need is identified and support begins, the greater the likelihood of meaningful progress,” Georgiadou emphasises.
“‘Colour & Light by XM’ functions like a small community, filled with care, understanding and specialised services. Behind every child stands a team of professionals working tirelessly — not just to support the child, but their entire family.
“Each programme is tailored – there is no one-size-fits-all approach; every case is unique. Children with autism have potential, as long as they are given the right tools. Here, we strive to give voice to what cannot be said in words.”
Support in numbers
In under two years of operation, “Colour & Light by XM” has already supported more than 14 children and their families across Cyprus. A team of nine specialists and professionals are actively involved in the Centre’s daily programmes, which include speech therapy, occupational therapy, psychological support and social skills training. The Centre operates year-round, 18 hours per week.
According to internal evaluation data, 85 per cent of children participating in the programme have shown marked improvement in communication and social interaction.
“Colour & Light” continues to grow, aiming not only to support more children, but also to foster a broader culture of acceptance, understanding and inclusion within Cypriot society.
XM’s investment forms part of its broader Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) framework and serves as a model for how the private sector can meaningfully contribute to the work of civil society. Most importantly, behind every number, behind every structure, there is a child taking one more step forward.
