A fire in a house in Ypsonas in the Limassol district on Saturday afternoon cost the life of a 27-year-old man.
According to police, the man was discovered unconscious inside the residence and was pronounced dead at the scene
Authorities said the fire is believed to have started in the kitchen at the Ypsonas house around 2:30pm and was later extinguished by emergency crews.
Fire department spokesman Costas Michael said the man likely died from smoke inhalation, though an autopsy would be carried out to confirm the exact cause.
The victim, a foreign national, was a permanent resident and employee in Cyprus.
He lived in the house with three other individuals, who were not present at the time of the incident.
Police and the fire department are investigating the case.
