A 16-year-old was arrested in Paphos on Tuesday evening for attempted murder and causing grievous bodily harm.

Three other people are still at large.

Five people were injured in a brawl between foreigners on Monday night in Paphos’ Dasoudi park and the police are investigating attempted murder.

The police said the force had been alerted at around 8.30pm on Monday about a fight between groups of people carrying knives and bats.

The five wounded were taken to hospital. Two were admitted for treatment, two were discharged and the fifth was sent for tests.

Police are investigating conspiracy to commit a crime, attempted murder, grievous bodily harm, carrying a knife, carrying a weapon to incite terror, malicious damage, common assault and riot inter alia.

Reports on Monday said two groups of Syrians had been fighting among themselves with knives and crowbars and even a sledgehammer.
