A spell of seasonal low pressure is influencing Cyprus, bringing mostly clear weather with some local cloud activity later in the day.

On Friday, skies will be mainly sunny. However, by the early afternoon, increased cloud over the mountains could produce isolated showers. Winds will shift between south-westerly and north-westerly, locally variable in the morning, and range from light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort.

By the afternoon, stronger winds of up to 5 Beaufort are expected along the southern coast. The sea will remain calm to slightly rough. Temperatures will climb to 36C inland, around 30C on the western and south-western coasts, 33C along other coastal areas, and 26C in the higher mountains.

On Friday evening, the weather will stay mostly clear, though patches of low cloud may develop over the western coast. Later in the night, low cloud is also possible in the eastern half of the island. Winds will turn north-westerly to north-easterly, light at 2 to 3 Beaufort. The sea will gradually settle, becoming calm to slightly rough. Temperatures will drop to around 21C inland and along the coast, and down to 16C in the mountains.

Saturday will bring mainly clear skies, though clouds forming over the mountains in the afternoon may again lead to isolated showers. On Sunday and Monday, conditions will remain mostly clear.

Temperatures are not expected to show any significant change until Monday, staying close to the seasonal average for this time of year.
