On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Lumiere Art Gallery presents CHROMA by Her, a group exhibition bringing together 10 female painters from the United States, Sweden, Lebanon, Russia and England, all of whom live and create in Cyprus. Set to run between March 8 and 21, the exhibition highlights femininity, cultural identity and creative coexistence.
Following last year’s exhibition HER, which brought together international artists of different genders and geographic backgrounds, this year’s curatorial approach focuses exclusively on painting and the female creative voice. CHROMA by Her highlights the dynamic presence of women artists who, although shaped by diverse cultural origins, have chosen Cyprus as their place of residence and artistic development.
The title Chroma, the Greek word for colour, serves as the central conceptual and visual axis of the exhibition. Colour is not treated merely as a formal element, but as a carrier of emotion, memory and identity. Through works in oil, acrylic and watercolour, the artists explore the relationship between light and matter, intensity and transparency, gesture and introspection.
From bold, expressive gestures to more contemplative and delicate renderings, the works form a cohesive visual dialogue that reflects both the individual journey of each artist and their collective presence on the island. Taking part are Alia Corm, Anna Kozyreva, Carolina Alotus, Francesca Pinoni, Julie Menelaou, Katie Sabry, Kelly Norman, Liubov M, Ludmila Budanov and Sheila Rave.

CHROMA by Her is conceived as an act of recognition and inclusion. It presents the participating artists not as ‘foreign’ creators, but as an active and integral part of Cyprus’ contemporary art scene. The exhibition celebrates the female painterly gaze, the power of colour as expression, and the significance of belonging through artistic practice.
