Three individuals were taken to Nicosia general hospital after suffering smoke inhalation during a house fire in Latsia on Sunday.

Fire brigade spokesperson, Andreas Kettis, confirmed that crews responded with three engines to a blaze in a room on the first floor of the property.

Two residents and a neighbour were transported by ambulance to the hospital’s emergency department.

Kettis said the three had attempted to extinguish the fire themselves before firefighters arrived.

Initial indications suggest the fire “appears to have been caused by an electric heater” operating in the room, Kettis said.

Investigations between the fire brigade and the police into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
