At a celebration dedicated to cinema, culture and international connectivity, the High Commission of India in Cyprus organised a distinctive event on March 27 2026 under the title “Flavours of Bharat”, showcasing India’s cultural heritage and offering attendees an initial introduction to the forthcoming Indian Film Festival, which will take place in the coming months.
The event, conceived as more than a cultural gathering, highlighted the power of cinema as a bridge between peoples and underscored the role of cultural diplomacy in strengthening ties between India and Cyprus. Guests had the opportunity to experience an evening inspired by the richness and diversity of Indian heritage, with the programme offering a curated introduction to the cultural and cinematic journey surrounding the upcoming festival.

During the event, trailers from six internationally acclaimed Indian films — Padmaavat, Dangal, Andhadhun, War, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and RRR — were screened, followed by Indian dance performances, as well as an interactive AI corner that enabled attendees to see themselves dressed in Indian Bollywood attire with the assistance of artificial intelligence. The screening of the first film will take place on May 9, 2026 at Artos House.
By placing cinema within the broader framework of “Flavours of Bharat”, the High Commission of India highlighted how cultural expression can enhance dialogue, deepen mutual understanding and strengthen bilateral relations. The forthcoming Indian Film Festival is expected to offer audiences in Cyprus a unique opportunity to experience the diversity, creativity and enduring appeal of Indian cinema.
