Parts of Nicosia were left without electricity on Monday morning after a fault affected sections of the distribution network, with restoration work underway and supply expected to resume within hours.

The electrical authority said the interruption began at around 8.00pm and affected areas including Kokkinotrimithia and Aglandjia.

Residents reported sudden loss of power across households and local businesses.

In its announcement, the authority stated that “the damage is expected to be repaired around 11.00 to 11.30 am”, with technical teams deployed to locate and resolve the fault.

Engineers are working to restore supply progressively once repairs are completed, with priority given to stabilising the affected grid sections before full reconnection.
