Limassol-based Island Oil (Holdings) Ltd has received the Silver Award in the Social Leader category at the ESG Shipping Awards International 2026, adding another Cyprus-linked distinction to a ceremony that brought together the global maritime industry in Athens.
The award, received by Dimitris Lemesianos during the ceremony hosted by ESG Shipping Awards in Athens, recognised the group’s work around people, wellbeing, inclusion and responsible growth, both onshore and at sea.
According to the awards organisers, the Social Leader Award is aimed at companies demonstrating best practices in areas such as social reporting, labour practices, human capital development, health and safety, diversity and inclusion, human rights and corporate social responsibility.
Island Oil said the distinction reflected “the collective effort” of its teams and the values shaping its ESG journey every day, adding that it remains committed to advancing responsible growth, ethical governance and meaningful impact across the maritime industry.
The recognition came during the ESG Shipping Awards International 2026, held in Athens on May 15, with organisers saying the event gathered more than 400 maritime companies and industry stakeholders to recognise ESG actions and initiatives across global shipping.
In the same category, Fleet Management Limited received the Gold Award, while V.Group received Bronze, according to the published winners list.
Island Oil, founded in 1992, is a diversified group primarily active in the supply and trading of marine fuels, with physical supply stations in Cyprus, Romania and Israel, as well as trading desks in Piraeus, Singapore, London, Hong Kong, Seoul and Dubai.
The group, which is headquartered in Limassol, has also expanded into related maritime services, including marine lubricants, ship-agency services, technical supplies and ship management. Its ESG work is presented as part of a wider effort to reduce environmental impact, promote social inclusivity and maintain high governance standards.
Lemesianos, who has previously been listed as Island Oil’s Health, Safety, Quality, Environmental and Sustainability Manager, has been closely involved in the group’s sustainability reporting and management system, with his role covering ESG analysis and the development of the company’s sustainability report.
