The meteorology department has issued a yellow warning for isolated heavy thunderstorms on Monday.

The thunderstorms are expected in mountainous areas, inland and the northern parts of Cyprus between 12pm and 6pm.

The precipitation rate could locally exceed 35 millimetres per hour, the department added, urging the public to exercise caution.
