An orange weather warning for exceptionally high temperatures is in force on Thursday, with temperatures expected to climb to around 44C inland.

The warning, issued by the Met Office, will remain in effect from 12pm until 5pm.

During this period, maximum temperatures are forecast to reach around 44C in inland areas and approximately 33C in the highest mountainous regions.
