A car crash in Ayia Napa in the early hours of Tuesday damaged a gas cylinder and caused a gas leak.

The fire brigade said it received a call at 4.48am about the gas leak and safely handled the incident before the cylinder was handed over to the private company it belonged to.

The firefighters “followed all prescribed procedures”, the fire brigade said.

The scene was then taken over by the police.
