The Nissan Qashqai e-POWER has demonstrated the efficiency of its technology in practice by securing a Guinness World Records title. This was not simply another accolade. It was confirmation of the capabilities of the Japanese company’s hybrid technology. At the same time, it is further proof of the efficiency and reliability of the e-POWER system in real-world driving conditions.

The feat took place in Colombia, where a Nissan Qashqai fitted with the new-generation e-POWER system covered a total of 1,980 kilometres on a single tank of fuel, without any external charging or refuelling. The journey took place over July 14-17, 2026, starting in Bogotá and ending on the Caribbean coast, covering a variety of road types, elevation changes, traffic conditions and changing driving environments. Every stage of the attempt was monitored and certified by the official adjudicators from Guinness World Records.

Similar successful long-distance trials previously carried out by Nissan in the United Kingdom and Australia have further strengthened the international reputation of e-POWER as a technology that combines economy, long range and an enjoyable driving experience.

New international accolade, world record for Nissan Qashqai e-POWER

What sets e-POWER apart from conventional hybrid systems is that the wheels are driven exclusively by an electric motor. The petrol engine does not drive the wheels but acts as a generator to produce electricity when required. In this way, the driver enjoys the immediate response, smooth acceleration and driving experience of an electric car, without having to search for a charging point.

The latest generation of the system incorporates Nissan’s new 5-in-1 modular unit, which combines the electric motor, the generator, the inverter and the other key mechanical components into a single compact assembly. At the same time, regenerative braking helps to optimise energy efficiency, ensuring low fuel consumption without compromising on performance.

For Nissan, e-POWER technology is a key pillar of the marque’s electrification strategy, enabling more drivers to enjoy electric motoring benefits, together with the convenience of conventional refuelling.
