A fire that broke out on the third floor of an apartment building in the Ayios Antonios area of Nicosia on Wednesday night was caused by an electric scooter, the fire service said on Thursday.

According to the authorities, the blaze was first noticed by a resident, who attempted to extinguish it before firefighters arrived.

The fire damaged the electric scooter and sections of the building’s paintwork.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
