A 40-year-old man was arrested on Saturday after arriving at Larnaca airport on an international inbound flight with 25 kilograms of cannabis in his suitcase, police said.

The cannabis was found during an inspection of the man’s luggage which was carried out at around 3.30am on Saturday morning. It was being stored in two nylon packages which made up the entire volume of the suitcase’s contents.

After the cannabis was found, the man was arrested, and appeared in court later on Saturday morning, where he was remanded in custody for eight days.

The police’s investigation into the matter is ongoing.
