A fire broke out in the Monastiria area of Droushia, near Paphos on Wednesday evening.

According to the forestry department, the fire is now under control with ground crews continuing efforts to extinguish the fire while progress is reportedly being slowed down by darkness and steep terrain in the area.  

Fire enginges will remain on site overnight, both to monitor the situation and to respond to possible flare-ups.
