Coronavirus: Record number booked for violating decrees

Police booked a record 140 individuals and two establishments for violating Covid decrees in the last 24 hours while carrying out 5,428 checks.

Inspections were also conducted in churches where services were held to mark the Epiphany holiday.

Most people, 55, were booked in Limassol as a result of 622 checks.

In Nicosia, the number of inspections was 1,929, in Larnaca 1,272, in Paphos 751, in Famagusta 604 and in the Morphou district 232.

In Nicosia, 23 individuals were fined, in Larnaca 31, in Paphos 15, in Famagusta seven and in Morphou nine.
