Coronavirus: 126,118 SMS for grocery shopping

Grocery shopping remains the most popular category for which people ask permission to leave their homes, according to the data Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy.

In total 380,199 messages were sent on Tuesday to 8998 for permission, 346,676 of which were approved.

As on Sunday and Monday, most text messages concerned category 2 for which 126,118 requests have been approved.

Exercising was the second most popular category, with 85,439 approved requests followed by category 8, that concerns any other reason that can be justified on the basis of the restrictions, with 64,965 approvals.

Fourth in demand was category 1 – permission to go out to a pharmacy or for blood donation, for a doctor visit or Covid test or vaccination for which 34,320 permissions were given.

The lockdown will be in place until January 31.
