Coronavirus: Record number of people booked

Police booked 146 individuals and three establishments during the 24 hours up to 6am Thursday morning for failing to comply with coronavirus decrees, a new record.

In total, 10,688 checks were carried out, 2,912 in Nicosia, 2,276 in Limassol, 1,502 in Larnaca, 1,307 in Paphos, 1,286 in Famagusta and 857 in Morphou.

Traffic police conducted 492 inspections, mainly on the motorways. The rapid response unit contributed with 22 checks and marine police with 34.

A total of 34 people were fined in Nicosia, 48 in Limassol, 14 in Larnaca, 27 in Paphos, 18 in Famagusta and four in Morphou.

One person was booked by traffic police.
