Coronavirus: Text requests up on Wednesday

The number of movement requests for Wednesday was slightly higher than the previous day, according to data released on Thursday.

While 329,822 messages were sent on Tuesday, 337,278 requests were made on Wednesday with 313,299 and 321,624 approved respectively.

As in previous days, most people asked to go shopping on Wednesday, 127,176 in total. On Tuesday, the second most common request was number 8, movements for ‘any other purposes’. Exercise replaced this on Wednesday, when 72,264 individuals chose this option, up from 60,048 the day before.

Attending functions such as weddings and funerals remains the least popular, with around 1,300 requests sent on both days.
