Coronavirus: More vaccination slots to open on Monday

People Receive A Dose Of The Moderna Coronavirus Disease (covid 19) Vaccine At The Misericordia Hospital In Grosseto

The health ministry announced Saturday it was opening 3,904 vaccination appointment slots on Monday for people aged 84 and above who have not yet received a Covid jab.

The appointments concern the period between February 4 and February 12. The available slots are in addition to those that had not been used previously, the ministry said.

People belonging to the age sub-category are advised to arrange their appointment on the first available day and time to have a continuous flow at vaccine centres.

The ministry said 7,780 people had been vaccinated between January 23 and January 29, with 3,494 being health professionals in the public and private sectors, and care home residents and staff receiving their second dose.

The number of people who have received both doses of the vaccine is 5,551, the ministry said.

During the same time, health authorities administered the first dose of the vaccine to 4,296 people. The total number of individuals who have received the first dose reached 19,617.

Starting February 8, two vaccination crews will be operating at the Linopetra centre in Limassol to better serve the public.

Vaccinations are currently conducted in 10 centres across the island with 19 crews.

At the same time, five mobile units, one in each district, are covering remote areas, care homes, and other facilities.
