UN special envoy to Cyprus Jane Holl Lute is expected on the island for mid-March ahead of an informal conference tentatively scheduled to take place in Geneva for late April.

Lute will meet President Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar as part of preparations for the conference.

The Cyprus News Agency (CNA) quoted a source as saying that further details were not immediately available other than Lute is expected to arrive in the second week of March.

It was also reported that on Monday another meeting of the recently appointed legal-constitutional group is due to meet.

Government Spokesman Kyriacos Koushos said on Friday that: “The members of the team have studied various topics… [which include] the discussion of specific legal issues regarding the Cyprus problem but also the informal conference.”

Koushos also said that Anastasiades has met with the negotiating team and other experts involved in the process.
