Coronavirus: 352 new cases, no deaths (Updated)

The health ministry on Monday announced 352 new cases of the coronavirus out of 40,891 tests.

The positivity rate overall is 0.86 per cent based on both PCR and rapid tests. In Limassol, however, rapid tests alone show a positivity rate of 1.2 per cent.

Hospitalisations are at 145 with 25 in serious condition. Fifteen patients are intubated. No deaths were reported.

The new cases concern 127 people found positive through PCR tests and 225 through rapid tests.

The PCR tests concern 100 people found positive through contact tracing, 16 who got tested privately, six among samples processed in state hospitals’ labs and five people among passengers who arrived at the Larnaca and Paphos airports.

Eight people were found positive after getting tested with antigen rapid tests in private labs.

Another 217 cases emerged among 37,856 samples taken during the rapid tests given to the wider population on behalf of the health ministry.

Of these, one case was detected during testing in the National Guard, and one in the education sector. Six cases were found among tests in industrial areas: two in that of Strovolos and four in that of Limassol.

The rest of the cases concern 126 found in Limassol with the positivity rate in the district rising to 1.2 per cent. In Nicosia, 49 cases were detected (0.34 per cent), 10 in Larnaca (0.19 per cent) and eight in the Famagusta district (0.48 per cent). Paphos, at 16 cases and 0.58 per cent positivity rate, records a rise compared to its low numbers in recent weeks.

The total number of cases so far is 37,230.
