Coronavirus: Woman fined for refusing to wear mask, send SMS

Police fined a woman €600 after she refused to wear a face mask and insulted officers at a Nicosia shopping mall early on Monday.

According to the police, the woman started screaming insults and allegedly assaulted the officers who asked her to wear a face mask.

She was taken to the police station and was fined €300 for not wearing a mask and another €300 for failing to send an SMS to 8998 to excuse her movement.

She was charged in writing and then released, police said.
