Rugged, unspoiled and winding: walking the Avakas Gorge

Despite the present Covid-related travel restrictions, the beautiful natural and urban areas of Cyprus are still accessible to us through the lenses of local creators.

In this video, we follow wedding photographer and videographer George Avgousti, as he walks along the winding Avakas Gorge trail, at the bottom of the Akamas peninsula, with springtime in full bloom.

Located between Agios Giorgios Peyias and Kato and Pano Arodhes villages, the 5.1km Gorge trail offers trekkers ample opportunity to enjoy its narrow rock passages, its flowing creek, its pines, cypress, juniper and fig trees, and its flowers, including the rare, purple-headed centauria akamandis, found only in Cyprus.

Wild life here can also feature several species of reptile, foxes, hares, falcons, crows, owls and dustings of butterflies.

The 4K footage was shot using a Sony A7III camera.
