Transport Minister Yiannis Karousos on Thursday visited Swedish power metal band Sabaton’s merchandise warehouse in Limassol from where the band ships goods to fans all over the world.

Karousos, escorted by the acting head of the postal services, Pavlos Pavlides, met with Pär Sundström, band’s manager and bass player and one of its lyricists.

According to an official statement, the band chose to move its base to Cyprus, including its e-commerce activities. They set up a warehouse in Limassol from where they send abroad the products ordered by their fans, such as t-shirts, mugs, face masks, flags, bandanas, towels, and other merchandise.

“For more than two years, we have been sending material from Cyprus and I am proud of the team I have on the island,” Sundström said. He added that even during the coronavirus pandemic they were able to ship more Sabaton souvenirs than in previous years.

“We achieved this as the team members worked in parallel from both the office and the warehouse,” he added.

Sundström also said he was pleased that the local authorities appreciate the band’s presence on the island and was very honoured by Karousos’ and Pavlides’ visit to discuss how the band could further improve their services.

Karousos said they discussed and exchanged views with Sundström about Sabaton’s experience with the Cyprus Post. “I listened carefully to his suggestions on how we can improve our service and better serve e-commerce,” Karousos said.

The minister expressed his satisfaction, that, in addition to Cypriot companies, more and more international organisations and companies, such as Sabaton, trust the Cyprus Post. He added that his ministry strengthens the efforts made by the Cyprus Post to promptly respond to the needs and challenges posed by online commerce.
