Coronavirus: Vaccinations for bedridden almost completed

Home vaccinations for bedridden people have almost been completed, the health ministry said on Friday, adding the vaccination campaign is proceeding at a satisfactory pace.

The ministry said one of the government’s main goals was to vaccinate all vulnerable people in Cyprus.

So far, around 80 per cent of people of over 80 have been vaccinated and 571 bedridden people have received at least their first jab.

The ministry said that in order to vaccinate people at home 12 mobile units and 23 specialised nurses have been deployed covering urban and rural areas.

Bedridden people need to file a special request on the Gesy portal to be vaccinated at home. The ministry also called on everyone in Cyprus to book a slot to get vaccinated.

“The Covid-19 vaccine is the main tool for a return to normality,” the announcement said. “Our lives and the lives of our beloved ones are in our hands. Postponing our vaccination, especially for vulnerable people, constitutes a big risk for everyone.”
