Temperatures are set to drop sharply on Saturday, with snow expected to fall in the higher mountains but they will increase by Monday, the met office announced.

On Friday, temperatures will rise to 21C in most areas and 12C around Troodos. At night, they will drop to 6C inland, 9C in coastal areas and 1C in the mountains.

On Saturday the weather is forecast to be partly cloudy, with local rains and isolated thunderstorms. The highest temperature inland is expected to be just 13C.

By Monday, it will be much warmer but it is still likely to be colder than is normal for mid-April.
