Man shot dead in Kiti (Updated)

A 37-year-old man was shot and killed in Kiti on Monday night.

The killing took place at around 9.30pm in Kiti near Larnaca and involved a burst of gunfire.

First reports said the perpetrators had set up an ambush outside a kiosk and shot the victim who was in his car and apparently on his way home.

It was widely reported in local media that the victim was well known to the police while the incident itself has been described as ‘gangster-like’.

There is a heavy police presence at the scene and in the surrounding area.
