Celebrated annually on April 22, Earth Day supports environmental protection and aims to raise awareness about the planet. Going eco-friendly is one of the latest and biggest movements of the times. One organisation is holding another activity to celebrate Earth Day and is encouraging people to do their part in helping the environment.

On Saturday Let’s Do It! Cyprus in partnership with the American Embassy are organising a clean-up at Strovolos Linear Park. At 10am, volunteers and participants will gather at the parking lot next to PAEK fields and set off to pick up rubbish. The clean-up will last until 12pm and those attending are encouraged to bring with them some water, re-usable gloves and can send number 6 to 8998 for their movement permit.

“Come and help us clean and make a better world with less trash,” says Let’s Do It! Cyprus, the national clean-up campaign and the biggest environmental volunteering action across the island. Saturday’s event is supported by the Office of the Commissioner for the Environment, the Office of the Commissioner for Volunteerism and NGOs as well as Strovolos Municipality, all hoping to do their part towards taking care of the planet.
