How a professional beekeeper removes hives from homes

In this video, we meet Erika Thompson, the professional beekeeper behind the company Texas Beeworks. As we learn, she’s been called to carry out many beehive removals in unwanted areas – a task that she enjoys undertaking – sometimes without even donning protective gear to ward off stings.

Watching her calmly dismantle a buzzing hive, piece by piece, then gently scoop up the bee residents, is fascinating, given most people’s understandable fear in the same circumstances.

For Erika, however, the task merits a composed, methodical approach, and in the end she transplants the honeycomb and the bees into a new hive that she had brought with her, specifically for this purpose.
