Luxury stays: a tour of the Joali Maldives

In this video, Grand Luxury Hotels co-founders and brothers, Ivan and Rouslan Lartisien, introduce us to the exclusive environment of the Joali Maldives resort.

Here, the 73, overwater, thatch-roofed villas are all of different sizes, so as not to disturb the coral in the lagoon, with the island’s trees carefully preserved throughout the entire resort. The rooms are also beautifully curated, courtesy of design studio Autoban, which chose to include lots of locally hand-carved wood and bamboo details. Yet the Joali Maldives’ most beautiful area might just be the welcome jetty, shaped like a manta ray and with gorgeous views in every direction.

The resort is also billed as the first art-immersive address in the Maldives, aptly supported by its premium restaurants: Saoke offers authentic, iron-grilled Japanese cuisine, Bellinis provides a slice of Italy and the Mura Bar creates an ambience of barefoot luxury. Elsewhere in the resort, the Joali Maldives spa features an all-marble hammam, as well as a floating yoga pavilion.
