The Cyprus High Commission is presenting a series of concerts in partnership with the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra this month. A selection of classical masterpieces by major composers, including Tchaikovsky, Vivaldi, and Mozart, will be presented in three online concerts.

A new concert will be released each weekend, between May 15 and May 29, and will be available to enjoy for free from the comfort of your home for 48 hours on vimeo.com/ondemand/springsessionswithcyso. All concerts will be released at 4pm and the first concert on May 15 will include pieces such as Arild Plau’s Concerto for tuba and strings and CM von Weber’s Concertino for clarinet in E flat major, op. 26 among others.

The second session presented by the Orchestra on May 22 will include works by Mozart, Tchaikovsky and Albinoni while the third and final concert on May 29 will include sounds by Roussel, Dvorak and Beethoven.

Apart from these online recitals, the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra hopes to also hold a series of physical concerts in May. Specifically, the Orchestra aims to take its Spirit of Romanticism concerts to Paphos on May 19, Limassol on May 20 and Nicosia on May 21. Renowned German maestro Wolfram Christ conducts the Orchestra in this series with a programme that features music by romantic composers of Central Europe, bursting with emotion and drama. Violin soloist Wolfgang Schroeder, who is also the Orchestra’s concertmaster, will have a special role in the concerts.

Three works are in the concert’s repertoire, two by Antonín Dvořák and one by Louis Spohr full of optimism, bliss and dramatic opera scenes as the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra tries to provide high-quality entertainment to audiences in Cyprus, abroad, in-person and online.
