The number of hospitalised coronavirus patients has been cut by 45 per cent, falling from highs of about 300 to 167 currently, health officials said on Friday.

The good news is in line with the health ministry’s weekly report, which noted that cases and the positivity rate have also significantly dropped.

Charalambos Charilaou of Okypy (state health services) said that he hopes for hospitalisations in the coming days to be further reduced.

But, he said, they are not taking anything for granted and remain vigilant should the epidemiological situation take a turn for the worse.

And while the number of patients remains high, at 167, it is steadily coming down with each passing day.
