The health ministry announced three deaths and another 73 positives for Covid-19 on Friday from 62,125 PCR and rapid tests with a positivity rate of 0.12 per cent.
The deaths concerned two men aged 71 and 77 and a woman aged 60. It is not known if the people who died had underlying conditions or whether they were vaccinated or not as the information is withheld from the public.
There are 78 people in hospitals of whom 31 are in serious condition and 16 are intubated.
The new cases concern 17 detected during contact tracing, five cases from people tested at Larnaca and Paphos airports, 13 people who got tested privately, nine among samples processed in state hospitals’ labs, one case among people who got rapid tests in private labs and one case from a personal doctor’s referral.
Another 27 cases were among the rapid tests carried out in all districts on behalf of the health ministry.
Twelve people were found in the Nicosia district with a positivity rate of 0.07 per cent, nine in Limassol (0.07 per cent), three in Larnaca (0.05 per cent), one in Paphos (0.03 per cent) and none in the Famagusta district.
The total number of cases so far is 72,307.
So far 360 deaths from coronavirus were recorded: 240 men and 129 women.
In the north, 22 new cases were announced on Friday out of 7,666 tests.
