The science behind the world’s most colourful corn

In this video, SciShow host Stefan Chin explains the science behind glass gem corn – a unique variety of rainbow-coloured corn, which became a social media sensation in 2012 after a photo of one was posted to Facebook.

As we learn in the video, the multi-hued cob is not just incredibly beautiful, but its genetic diversity might also prove invaluable to our efforts to preserve ancient seeds and maintain food viability.
