How global warming impacts the Mediterranean Basin

The Mediterranean Basin is one of the marine regions most vulnerable to the impacts of global warming. Floods, heat waves, biodiversity loss… in this video, we get an overview of why the situation is so worrying.

In a report in June, the German branch of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) published a report urging countries fringing the Mediterranean to turn at least 30 per cent of their waters into Protected Maritime Areas (MPAs) by 2030 and rein in overfishing and pollution.

The report also warns residents they face losing fishing livelihoods and Mediterranean culture if biodiversity is not restored and deadly industrial impacts reduced.
