Woman injured in traffic collision

Police on Monday said they are investigating the circumstances under which a 20-year-old woman was seriously injured in a traffic accident in the Larnaca district over the weekend.

The accident occurred around 4.20am on Sunday on the Lagias – Oras road. On a left turn, under conditions that are being investigated, the car of the 20-year-old veered off the road and into a field coming to a stop after crashing into a tree.

The woman was transferred to Larnaca general hospital by her relatives. Medical examination revealed she had, among other injuries, internal bleeding in her body.

She remains hospitalised with doctors describing her condition as serious, police said.

Lefkara police station is investigating the conditions of the accident.
