One death from coronavirus and 575 new cases were announced on Wednesday out of 61,462 PCR and rapid tests, a positivity rate of 0.94 per cent.
The death was of a woman, aged 59. So far 430 people died from Covid-19: 282 men and 148 women with average age 77 years.
There are 273 people in hospital with the virus, of whom 90 are in serious condition. Of those, 41 are intubated.
The new cases concern 44 people found positive during contact tracing, 131 who got PCR tests privately and 265 who got rapid tests privately.
Seven people were found positive during testing at the Larnaca and Paphos airports and 16 cases were among samples processed in state hospitals’ labs. Two are people referred for testing by their physicians.
In total 110 cases were among the rapid test carried out in all districts on behalf of the health ministry. In the Nicosia district, 40 positive cases were detected, 34 in Limassol, 12 in Larnaca, 17 in Paphos and seven in the Famagusta district.
The total number of cases recorded so far is 103,889.
