Τhe met office on Thursday issued a new yellow warning for high temperatures.

The alert will be in effect until Friday afternoon.

Temperatures are expected to hit 42C inland, 33C along the coast, and 33C in the mountains.

According to the warning, overnight, the minimum temperature will fall to around 26C inland and 25C over the northern coasts.

The weather is expected to be a little cooler than the last three days when the office issued an orange alert for three consecutive days.

Clouds are expected on Saturday, mainly in the higher mountainous areas with a small temperature drop but increased levels of relative humidity.
