University of Nicosia collecting supplies for fire-stricken in Greece

The University of Nicosia is collecting supplies for municipalities in fire-stricken regions in Greece which will then distribute them to the people affected by the catastrophic blaze.

“The University of Nicosia is calling upon its administrative and academic staff, as well as any of our fellow citizens, to stand by the people of the regions damaged by the fires,” the university said in an announcement on Monday.

The university has listed the following items for people to donate:

  • medicinal products: gauzes, first aid supplies, anti-burn ointments, Fucidin, Betadine, painkillers, etc.
  • Baby Items: diapers, baby wipes, baby food, clothes, etc.
  • Food: long-lasting dry foods, such as spaghetti, canned food, toast, buns, cookies, cereal bars, etc.

The items will be collected at the Millenium building which can be found on university grounds, under the Coffeeology coffee shop.

The collection drive will begin on Monday, August 9, from 15:00 in the afternoon until 18:00.

Collections will also take place on Tuesday, August 10, between 10:00 and 13:30, and Wednesday, August 11, during the same time slot.

All supplies will be sent to Greece on Thursday, August 12.

The shipment will be delivered free of charge by ACS courier.
